Radio Control Panels

The 1U619-( ) family of multi-function Radio Control Panels (RCPs) was developed (with Cessna’s participation) for the Citation I, II, and III in order to satisfy the requirements of the European mandate requiring that VHF COMM transceivers be able to tune frequencies that are spaced at 8.33 KHz intervals. New radios are required as well as compatible control heads (that tune using serial data) are required for the upgrade.

Two major issues were addressed. The first was to eliminate the necessity of having to install individual control heads (one per radio) and therefore having to physically modify the instrument panel extensively to accommodate them, and secondly to eliminate the need to install old surplus control heads to tune the legacy radios that remain, as they are not affected by the mandate. The two NAV / DME functions utilize the archaic ARINC 410 parallel “2 out of 5” interface, and the ATC function utilizes an “octal” interface. The 1U619-( ) allows for the appropriate mix of tuning methods and is a drop-in replacement for the 1U434-( ). Lastly, the 1U434-( ) mechanical RCP is obsolete, and we no longer manufacture or support it.
